As all educational institutions are scheduled to commence from July 1, the State government has decided to vaccinate teaching and non-teaching staff.
To facilitate vaccination drive, 48 special centres were set up in schools and colleges in the city. The staff of educational institutions were administered vaccines on producing identity card of the institution besides Aadhaar card details.
“About 35 to 40 centres are set up in each district to take up the Covid-19 vaccine drive for staff of educational institutions in the State. As per reports we received, over 11,300 teaching and non-teaching staff got vaccinated,” said a senior official of the School Education department.
Welcoming the special vaccination drive for staff of educational institutions, Pratibha, a Science teacher with Nandini Convent School, Karimnagar, said the vaccination process went smoothly. “Already one academic year has been lost due to the pandemic. It is good the government has taken up the vaccination drive for teachers and it has to be extended to students as well,” she said.
Rajashekhar, a private school mathematics teacher said he had earlier planned to take it but was unsuccessful due to the rush at vaccination centre and later because of the non-availability of the vaccine. “This vaccine drive will help us return to schools and take physical classes also soon,” Rajashekhar said.
