Rajanna-Sircilla: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao said on Monday that the innovative schemes introduced by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao were serving as models for other States across the country.
“No State in the country was implementing schemes that are being implemented in Telangana. The opposition leaders, however, who are idle without any work, are criticising the Chief Minister,” he said, and challenged the opposition parties to provide information on any State that was implementing schemes implemented in Telangana.
Rama Rao was speaking after inaugurating double bedroom houses in Mustabad mandal. “The double bedroom houses are being constructed across the State at a cost of Rs 18,000 crore. Irrespective of village or town, double bedroom houses are being constructed in every locality to help the poor live with dignity,” he said.
Describing Chandrashekhar Rao as a stubborn man, Rama Rao said the Chief Minister will never go back on his promises and ensures that all promises made to the people are fulfilled. “Every eligible family in the State will be provided with double bedroom houses,” the Minister assured.
Stating that successive government in Andhra Pradesh used to struggle even to construct a single house, the Minister said the TRS government, to ensure that the poor lead a dignified life, took up the double bedroom housing scheme after State formation. “These houses are being provided to the poor without giving them any problems,” he said.
While the cost of a two bedroom house generally costs Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, the State government was constructing quality houses at a lower cost. “The selection of beneficiaries for the housing scheme was also being done in a transparent manner and without any political interference,” he said, adding that such an exercise has not been taken up anywhere in the country.
“It is not just the double bedroom houses, no other State has introduced schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Kalyanalaxmi, KCR Kits, among others,” he said, adding that the government had so far spent Rs 8,500 crore on Kalyanalaxmi and Shadhi Mubharak.
