Telangana SIR: How to correct errors in electoral roll after submitting enumeration form
Telangana voters who discover mistakes in their SIR enumeration forms can seek corrections through the prescribed Election Commission procedure. They may submit Form 8 with supporting documents after scrutiny, while BLOs advise electors to verify all details carefully before submitting original forms.

Hyderabad: With the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls underway across Telangana, several electors are confronted with questions on making corrections related to date of birth, address, or surname, among others, after having submitted the forms. Other details that, in some instances, are in need of correction include photos, signatures or thumb impressions, parents’ names, EPIC number, and Aadhaar number.
According to the BLOs, if electors realise they made a mistake in their submissions after handing over, they need not worry but use the standard Election Commission of India procedure to amend records.
The corrections can be made after completion of the scrutiny. The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) would automatically flag logical discrepancies and subsequently issue a notice to the elector.
Electors who receive the notice can follow the prescribed procedure under the revised SIR 2026 schedule, submit Form 8, and seek corrections such as fixing spellings, updating addresses, or changing a photograph. The elector must present supporting identity proofs, such as an Aadhaar card, birth certificate, or government document, to their BLO to clear the error.
Electors can also fill out Form 8 online at the Voters Service Portal, via the official Voter Helpline App, or at a nearby Mee Seva centre, along with valid supporting documents, and complete verification as required. The Mee Seva centre will collect user charges from the elector to complete the process.
“This process will be held in August and September and will be completed by the time of the final publication of electoral rolls,” said a BLO.
BLOs also suggested that before filling in the enumeration forms, electors should take a photocopy of the original enumeration forms and fill in the details. Once all details were confirmed as correct, they should fill out the original enumeration form given by the BLO.
