Hyderabad: With the implementation of ‘Mana Vooru – Mana Badi’ programme, Telangana State Planning Board vice-chairman B Vinod Kumar said the education system in government schools will witness a new phase of development. He allayed fears of closing Telugu medium schools and assured that Telugu being the mothertongue, will co-exist with English medium schools.
Speaking to the representatives of SC and ST Intellectuals Forum who called on him at the Ministers’ Quarters here on Wednesday, Vinod Kumar said the State government which took up irrigation and power as its priority sectors for development, was now focusing on education and health. He said the recent decisions by the State Cabinet including ‘Mana Vooru-Mana Badi’ and introduction of English medium in government schools were novel initiatives which will have greater impact on education system in the long-term.
He ridiculed the allegations by the Opposition parties on introducing English medium in government schools and advised them to come up with constructive criticism on the government programmes. “The Opposition leaders – Bandi Sanjay and A Revanth Reddy, have made it their job to criticise the State government on its every initiative just for the sake of it. Instead, they should come up with constructive criticism,” he said.
Vinod slammed Bandi Sanjay for alleging that the State government announced English medium in government schools only to collect money from private schools. He also criticised the latter for stating that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao would be facing tough times in future and wondered whether Sanjay learnt to read horoscopes and tell prophecies.
On the occasion, the SC and ST Intellectuals Forum appreciated the State government’s new initiative ‘Mana Vooru-Mana Badi’ and pledged their full support for its effective implementation. SC Corporation chairman Banda Srinivas, SC Intellectuals Forum president Arepalli Rajender, ST Intellectuals Forum president M Dhananjay Naik, general secretary G Haricharan, and others were present.
