Hyderabad: The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree & Junior Colleges PDs and PETs Association appealed to the state government to reconsider the decision of assigning caretaker duties to physical directors (PDs) during the summer vacation.
In a statement on Sunday, association chairman Dr Rama Laxman, president Dr Rama and general secretary Dr Suneetha said TGSWREIS recently mandated caretaker duties for physical directors and librarians, while faculty attend university examination-related responsibilities during the vacation from May 1 to 31 for social welfare residential degree colleges.
The association expressed concern that physical directors already work under demanding schedules, including early morning and evening physical training sessions, and also perform caretaker duties on a rotational basis during regular working days. Assigning continuous caretaker duties during the vacation period imposes an additional burden and affects their legitimate break, it said.
The association requested Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar to intervene and issue necessary directions to assign caretaker duties to office staff instead of exclusively assigning them to physical directors.
