Adilabad: Panic gripped farmers of Kosuguda village in Sirikonda mandal after they spotted pugmarks of a tiger in a cotton field on the village outskirts on Thursday morning. The farmers urged Forest officials to take steps to drive back the tige into forest to prevent any human casualties.
Earlier, another tiger was sighted in cotton farms at Tamsi (K) and Gunjala villages in Bheempur mandal on Wednesday. A photograph showing the tiger moving through the fields went viral on social media.
Farmers, who had begun harvesting cotton, suspended the work fearing an attack. Forest officials suspect that a tiger which moved from Maharashtra may be roaming in the cotton-growing areas. They urged farmers to remain alert, move in groups, and make noise while plucking cotton. Officials said staff had been deployed to track the animal’s movement.
