Kacheguda tragedy: Twins killed in blaze triggered by AC
Two three-year-old twin brothers died in a fire allegedly caused by an electrical short circuit in an air conditioner at their residence in Sundar Nagar, Kacheguda. While their siblings escaped, the twins, who were asleep, succumbed to burns and suffocation.
Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, two toddlers, both twins, lost their lives allegedly after a fire broke out in an air conditioner due to an electrical short circuit at a house in Kacheguda on Friday.
The incident occurred on Friday evening at around 5 pm, at their residence in Sundar Nagar. According to the police, the children identified as Rahman and Raheem, both aged three years, were sleeping along with their two other siblings in the bedroom when the air conditioner suddenly caught fire, filling the room with flames and thick smoke.
While their other siblings were alerted and immediately rushed to their parents and informed them, the twins who were reportedly in deep sleep, could not get up and ended up lying on the bed.
Their parents immediately rushed to rescue them and with the help of local residents went into the room and brought the children outside.
However, by then one of the twins, Rahman had died due to burns and suffocation. Meanwhile, Raheem who suffered serious burns was shifted to the hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment at around 9 pm on Friday.
The Kacheguda police were informed of the incident and registered a case. By the time the police and fire department personnel reached the spot, the locals had already controlled the fire and smoke using buckets of water from their houses.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
