Hyderabad: The first eclipse of 2025, a total lunar eclipse is all set to take place on Friday. However, the lunar eclipse will not be visible in India but will be visible across multiple regions covering Pacific, Americas, West Europe, West Africa, North Atlantic Ocean and South Atlantic Ocean, Director, Planetary Society, India, N Sri Raghunandan Kumar on Thursday said.
While the total lunar eclipse will not be visible in India, its timing will start from 3.56 am and ends at around 10.02 pm on Friday. North and South America are best places on earth to see this total lunar eclipse as all the phases including totality phase is visible from people living there. Whereas other places, where the moon is visible above horizon at rising or setting time of the moon, the eclipse will be visible partial.
The last time any eclipse that was visible in India was on October 28, 2023, which was a partial lunar eclipse. Interestingly last year (2024) three eclipses i.e. two solar eclipses and one lunar eclipse occurred but were not visible from India. The next eclipse, this time a total lunar eclipse, that will be visible from India will occur on September, 2025, Kumar said.
