Hyderabad: Dr Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, the individual who posed as a cardiologist and allegedly conducted heart surgeries causing death of seven patients in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh, was registered as an MBBS doctor with Andhra Pradesh Medical Council in 2013.
The Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) which launched efforts on Tuesday to verify the history of registration of Dr Yadav, said he did not register as a super-specialty heart specialist with the Council. Apparently, in the APMC records, Dr Narendra disclosed that he had completed his MBSB degree in West Bengal, Darjeeling.
Dr Yadav, as Chairman of Braumwald Hospitals, UK, reportedly had entered into a contract with Poulomi Hospitals, Dr AS Rao Nagar, Kapra in 2018. They, however, stopped operations within months, when Dr Narendra did not pay salaries to the hospital employees and vendors.
“We have found Dr Yadav’s name in APMC 2013 records. However, that registration was only for MBBS degree and not for cardiologist. Such an incident is a case of quackery that led to the death of seven patients. The TSMC has launched major efforts to curtail this kind of practices,” says Vice-Chairperson of TS Medical Council, Dr G Srinivas.
At the time of questioning by the authorities, Dr Narendra had revealed they had also entered into a contract with another hospital at LB Nagar.
Meanwhile, the police have started enquiries in the issue. “We are checking with the hospital managements and the local police station if any cases were registered against such person,” said an official.
In 2019, a man Kenneth Townsend, hired as an ‘observer’ by Braunwald hospitals to observe the quality of the nursing staff in Hyderabad, filed a kidnapping case against Dr.Yadav, his partner and his driver at Petbasheerabad police station.
In the same year, a case of cheating was filed against him and others at Kushaiguda police station for non-payment of salaries to employees at the hospital. He was arrested and remanded in the case.
