Unemployed youth confront Congress MLC Addanki Dayakar over job calendar delay
Congress MLC Addanki Dayakar was confronted by unemployed youth at Chikkadpally Library over the government’s failure to release the job calendar and honour promises of recruitment and allowances. Protestors blocked his exit, demanding immediate action and accountability.
Hyderabad: Congress MLC Addanki Dayakar was confronted by a group of unemployed youth at the Central Library in Chikkadpally on Tuesday. The protestors demanded that the Congress government release the promised job calendar and begin recruitment for vacant posts.
The MLC had visited the library to take part in Bonalu festivities. Upon learning of his presence, a large group of unemployed youth gathered at the venue, questioning the government’s failure to honour pre-election promises.
They reminded Dayakar that the Congress had pledged in its manifesto, and reiterated in the Assembly, to fill one lakh government vacancies within a year of coming to power. The youth demanded immediate clarity and accountability.
Sensing tension, police reached the spot and attempted to escort the MLC out of the library. However, the protestors blocked his exit, insisting he respond to their demands.
They also pointed to the Congress government’s failure to pay the promised Rs.4,000 monthly honorarium to unemployed youth. Several of them expressed anger over Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s recent remarks claiming that unemployed youth were urging the government not to issue job notifications regularly.
“Before the elections, we convinced our families and relatives to vote for Congress. Now, after coming to power, they have abandoned us,” a youth said.
A video of one protestor confronting the MLC is circulating widely on social media. “When we question the government about jobs, cases are booked against us. This kind of suppression will not be tolerated,” the protestor is seen telling Dayakar.
The protestors also objected to a notice issued by the Hyderabad City Grandhalaya Samstha at the library, banning meetings, sloganeering or gatherings that could disrupt the atmosphere. The notice warned that students or youth violating the rule would be denied entry and face action.
