Hyderabad: TRS MPs G Ranjith Reddy and B Venkatesh Netha criticised the union government for introducing a purposeless union Budget. They alleged that the promises made by the BJP government in the budget were filled with half-truths and reduced allocations to crucial sectors.

Speaking to mediapersons in Delhi, Chevella MP G Ranjith Reddy said the Narendra Modi government made lot of promises including doubling farmers’ income, in the past and failed to fulfill them. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was now promising to ensure Har Ghar Jal, but it was achieved by the Telangana government long ago. He wondered how the Centre can ensure Minimum Support Price to crops, without spelling out its procurement policy.

“There must be capital expenditure in agriculture sector to promote farm mechanisation and modernisation. Without addressing the core issues, one cannot achieve these targets,” the MP said. He stated that the Centre made major allocations to the poll-bound States, but ignored the remaining States including Telangana. He said the union Budget has proved that the BJP government was taking political vendetta against the TRS government in the State by not allocating funds.

Peddapalli MP B Venkatesh Netha condemned the statements made by the BJP leaders and accused the Centre of reducing allocations to crucial sectors like agriculture, health and education. He said rather than increasing funds, the Modi government, which was proclaiming its commitment and love for the farmers and the poor, presented a budget which indicates otherwise. He said the Centre which is claiming to be pro-farmer has not only reduced allocations to agriculture sector, but also failed to provide financial assistance to farmers who died during the recent farmers’ protests against the Farm Laws.

Venkatesh said the budget offers nothing for the MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) sector which was severely affected due to Covid-19 pandemic with nine per cent units shutdown across the country. Instead, he said the Centre favoured the corporate companies by reducing their taxation. “Corporate ke saath, Desh ka Vinaash is BJP’s new slogan,” he accused and advised the Telangana Congress leaders to wage a war against the Centre’s anti-people policies rather than making false protests and dharnas against the State government in Telangana.
