Vigilance officials conduct raids at seed outlets across Telangana

V&E officials seized 229.55 quintals of BT cotton, soybean and other seeds, 74.3 metric tonnes of fertilisers and 268 kgs of pesticides worth Rs 58 lakh

Hyderabad: Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) wing conducted simultaneous raids on outlets selling spurious seeds across the State since Friday and booked cases against 17 dealers.

The raids were conducted on the outlets in Vikarabad, Warangal, Mahbubnagar among other areas.


The V&E officials seized 229.55 quintals of BT cotton, soybean and other seeds, 74.3 metric tonnes of fertilisers and 268 kgs of pesticides worth Rs 58 lakh. They booked cases against dealers under provisions of Section 420 of IPC along with provisions of Insecticide Rules-1971 and Essential Commodities Act-1955.

In all, a dozen teams were taking part in the raids. If the general public has any information on sale of spurious seeds and fertilisers, they can call senior vigilance officer on 8008203193.
