Hyderabad: Vaagdevi Group of Colleges and Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH) conducted an agri-hackathon in Warangal calling innovators to solve challenges of farmers.
The participants got an opportunity to attend mentorship sessions and workshops by farming experts and startups.
“Ideas like the agriweeder could be used to sow seeds in wet paddy fields after harvest. This innovation can help farmers in Warangal district to bring more than 30,000 acre under pulse and other crops,” said Hari Singh, Warangal Additional Collector.
The officials agreed to support select ideas in conducting farm trials and for commercialisation. Out of the 67 teams, 28 ideas have potential to solve problems in farming and create a big impact in India’s farming sector, said R Bhubesh Kumar, Food and Agriculture Head, RICH.
Ideas like Smart Farmers (a plant-based hydrogel useful for dryland farmers in growing crops during summers), Konthexa (grain storage bins for efficient logistics) and Agri-Warriors (cycle weeder) have been short-listed for further development, a release said.
