Warangal: CPI-Maoist Woman member with Rs. 20 lakh reward surrenders
Manjula, originally from Budharaupeta village in Khanapur mandal of Warangal district, was involved in five firefights between 1995 and 2019. Her two brothers, former members of the CPI-Maoist, were killed in encounters years ago. Following their deaths, she dropped out of school and joined the CPI(ML) People’s War Group, Narsampeta Dal, in 1994.

Warangal: A wanted woman Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), identified as Kodi Manjula (46), alias Nirmala, working as the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee member, South Sub-Zonal Bureau, carrying a reward of Rs. 20 lakh surrendered before Warangal Police Commissioner Amber Kishore Jha on Thursday.
Hailing from Budharaupeta village in Khanapur mandal of Warangal district, Manjula was involved in five exchanges of fire between 1995 and 2019. Her two brothers too were members of the CPI-Maoist and were killed in exchange of fire long ago. After their death she dropped out of the school and joined the CPI(ML) People’s War Group, Narsampeta Dal in 1994.
Manjula was involved in several incidents in Telangana and Chhattisgarh. She is an accused in the 2013 incident in Jeeram Ghati area of Darba division where Kalsi and the Maoists killed 27 policemen, and in the firing on policemen in Chityala Narsampeta, Eturunagaram and Nekkonda police stations.
Since 2021, she was facing health issues and was not able to take part in the activities of the dalam, hence she decided to surrender. The police commissioner handed over a cheque of Rs. 20 lakh to her as part of the rehabilitation programme.
