Warangal: Task Force police team intercepted two vehicles at Koppula village of Shayampet mandal and seized 70 quintals (140 bags) PDS rice from their possession on Thursday.
The worth of the PDS rice is Rs 1.68 lakhs. It is said that the accused had purchased PDS rice from surrounding villages and were transporting the same to other States, needy persons and poultry farms at high prices to earn easy bucks.
The police team has nabbed seven persons in connection with the case, while one more accused is absconding, according to Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad, Additional DCP (crimes).
The accused have been handed over to Shayampet police for further investigation and legal action.
