Mahabubnagar: Congress legislators are facing mounting pressure as farmers continue to stage protests at their camp offices, demanding timely supply of urea.
On Tuesday, farmers in Jadcharla staged a protest at MLA J Anirudh Reddy’s camp office after queuing up at the nearby agro centre since morning. Learning that the MLA had arrived, they marched to his office around 11 a.m. and raised slogans, demanding that the government and officials ensure immediate supply of fertiliser. Following this, Anirudh Reddy spoke to the farmers and assured them that urea stocks would arrive by evening, promising distribution from 4 p.m. The farmers then returned to the agro centre and continued to wait in long queues.
This was not an isolated incident. Last week, farmers in Mahabubabad staged a protest at MLA Bhukia Naik’s camp office over delayed supply of urea, even attempting to lay siege before police intervened.
In Yellandu, MLA Koram Kanakaiah faced heated arguments with farmers protesting near the government hospital on the main road, accusing him of failing to address fertiliser shortages.
