Hyderabad: It was a proud moment for the National Police Academy on Friday as a woman IPS probationer led the Passing Out Parade for the third year in a row.
Parade Commander Darpan Ahluwalia, who is the sixth woman IPS probationer to lead the NPA’s Dikshant Parade in the academy’s history, had also stood first in Phase-I training, according to Academy Director Atul Karwal.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval took the salute and complimented the officer trainees passing out. He also presented trophies to meritorious IPS Officer Trainees and Officer Trainees from friendly countries who underwent training at the Academy.
In all, 132 IPS Officer Trainees, including 27 women officers of the 73rd batch of Regular Recruits, completed their basic training and passed out on Friday. Simultaneously, 17 foreign officers, viz., 6 officers from Bhutan, 6 from Maldives and 5 from Nepal also completed their institutional training.
Earlier, Doval laid wreaths and paid homage to martyrs of the Indian Police Service and also paid tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, after whom the academy is named.
