A trainee IPS officer was arrested in Hyderabad in connection with a sexual harassment case filed by a fellow trainee at the National Police Academy. Police conducted a medical examination before producing him before a court, while the investigation into the allegations continues.
Trainee IPS officer Uday Krishna Reddy allegedly attempted suicide and was admitted to a private hospital in critical condition. The incident comes a day after an internal inquiry reportedly found merit in sexual harassment allegations levelled against him by a fellow trainee officer.
Trainee Assistant Superintendents of Police from the National Police Academy and Group-I officers from the RBVRR Telangana Police Academy visited Central Prison Cherlapalli as part of their field training. Dr. Soumya Mishra, Director General of Prisons & Correctional Services, briefed them on prison administration and highlighted initiatives such as de-addiction centres and the “Nivrutti” programme for women inmates.

The incident came to light late and according to the police, the Academy authorities suspect the role of a contract employee hired by a private firm which is into systems maintenance.
