Hyderabad: The Task Force (South-East) deported a Yemeni national who was allegedly residing illegally in the city to prevent his activities that were a threat to national security.
The deportee, identified as Ahmed Salem Abdullah alias Ahmed Salem Fadaq (38), a native of the Republic of Yemen, entered India in 2017 on a student visa to pursue a BBA degree at Nizam College.
Subsequently, after completing his course in 2020, he moved to Rajasthan and pursued a master’s degree at a private university. His student visa expired in August 2024, but he continued to stay in India illegally. He returned to Hyderabad and was found residing in the Tolichowki area without valid documents.
“During this stay in the city, he was suspected of associating with drug peddlers operating in Hyderabad and Rajasthan,” said a Task Force official. Following a tip-off, the Task Force recently nabbed him while moving suspiciously in Tolichowki.
“Though no drugs were found with him, he failed to produce any valid travel or residential documents. His credentials were verified with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), which confirmed his illegal status,” said the official.
Considering the potential threat his continued stay posed, authorities obtained an Exit Certificate from FRRO and deported him to Yemen on Thursday.
