Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud speaks during a video conference on Saturday
Mahabubnagar: Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud said an exclusive 500-bed Covid ward at Government General Hospital in Mahabubnagar town would be ready in a couple of days.
About 100 isolation beds are available at SVS Hospital and by Tuesday, 30 oxygen beds would be available at Shadnagar, he said.
The Minister held a video conference with Mahabubnagar and Narayanpet Collectors, Zilla Parishad Chairmans, elected public representatives and other officials on Saturday. He wanted doctors to shift infected persons to isolation wards first, and if the need arises, then to hospitals.
“In case of emergency and critical cases, they have to be immediately shifted to Government General Hospital in Mahabubnagar,” said Srinivas Goud.
While conducting the fever survey, if more than 10 positive cases are identified, a team of doctors and nurses should be sent to such places in an ambulance, he said.
For the convenience of patient attendants, including those at private hospitals, free food should be arranged. Like last year, this year too a special care centre should be set up in Mahabubnagar town and free food should be provided for the downtrodden and the destitute, the Minister said.
In view of the lockdown, all measures should be taken to ensure people do not face any inconvenience, especially migrant workers, he said, adding traffic should be monitored from 6 am to 10 am, he added.
Narayanpet Collector D Harichandana informed the Minister that doctors who were deployed from Mahabubnagar had reported to duty and that oxygen cylinders were received. Cylinders from the TSMIDC are yet to be received, she said, adding a Covid care centre was set up at Maddur.
There is a requirement for doctors at Kosgi besides another 50 oxygen cylinders, she said.
