Adilabad: In-charge Superintendent of Police M Rajesh Chandra assured Anjanabai, mother of banned Maoist party member Dasarwada Sumana alias Sangeethakka, of quality medical services if her daughter surrenders before the police. He met Anjanabai at the remote Dedra village in Bazarhathnoor mandal on Saturday.
Riding a motorcycle for about 20 km to reach the village, Rajesh visited Anjanabai and inquired about her well-being and whether was getting rations, Rythu Bandhu aid and benefits of other schemes. He also met Sumana’s siblings Subhash, Ramesh and sister-in-law Latha. He extended financial aid, groceries, clothes and blankets to Anjana and her family members.
The IPS officer said that scores extremists were testing positive for Covid-19 and some of them were succumbing to the deadly virus due to lack of medical services. Top cadres of the outfit were forced to visit hospitals and were undergoing treatment, he stated. He promised to extend fine quality medication if Sumana quits the party, besides cash reward Rs 5 lakh and a double-bed-room house and a piece of agricultural land.
Speaking on the occasion, Anjanabai advised her daughter to join the social mainstream and to take care of her. She lamented that she was struggling to do many tasks as she was reeling under many age related ailments. Subhash, Ramesh and Latha also pleaded to the Maoist to quit the outlawed outfit. Anjana had joined the party 20 years back.
The in-charge SP later inaugurated a TV set and DTH connection sponsored for the students of the village to help them in accessing online classes. He distributed stationery and interacted with the pupils. He requested medical officer of Bazarhathnoor mandal Dr Suresh to organize a medical camp at the village for the convenience of locals.
Boath Inspector Nylu, Bazarhathnoor Sub-Inspector P Uday Kumar, Sarpanch Bheem Rao, head of the village Chandu and many others were present.
