Afzalgunj shooting suspects still at large after a year, police hunt continues
A year after a daring shooting in Hyderabad’s Afzalgunj, two suspects, including Bihar’s notorious robber Manish Kushwaha, remain untraced. The duo shot and injured a travel manager at Roshan Travels before fleeing.
Hyderabad: Despite the incident occurring in full public glare, the two suspects who shot and injured a travel company manager at Afzalgunj in January last year continue to remain elusive.
On January 16 last year, the suspects, one of them believed to be Manish Kushwaha, a notorious robber from Bihar, had fired at and injured Jahangir, who works as a manager at Roshan Travels, Afzalgunj, after he attempted to probe the source of huge cash they were carrying in bags.
The manager suffered a bullet wound and was operated upon at a private hospital in the city. The two suspects had booked tickets at Roshan Travels that day and were supposed to head to Raipur by the private travel bus.
After the incident, the Afzalgunj police registered a case and the Hyderabad police formed several teams to nab the suspects. However, their efforts did not yield any results even though a year had passed.
“We have information that Manish and his associate fled to Nepal to evade arrest,” said an official from Hyderabad police. Before coming to Hyderabad, the two suspects had looted Rs 78 lakh from ATM custodians in Bidar and shot dead a security guard who tried to resist them.
