Hyderabad: Director-General of Police M Mahendar Reddy here on Saturday said all the entry and exit points of Hyderabad along with other major cities and towns in the State would be closed to ensure strict implementation of the lockdown.

These entry and exit points would be opened only after lockdown was lifted, he said while interacting with media persons after supervising the implementation of lockdown in the city and its suburbs.

He said that the vehicles that were plying in an unauthorized manner during lockdown would be seized and such vehicles would be handed over to the owners concerned only after lockdown is lifted. If anyone attempts to step out on the pretext of buying medicines with old prescriptions given by doctors, then action would be taken against them and their vehicle would also be seized.

The police department would allow only those, who are coming out for medical emergencies, he said, advising people not to step out unnecessarily during lockdown. The main objective of the lockdown was to contain the spread of Covid-19 virus, he said.

He asked the shopkeepers and hawkers not to allow customers after 9.30 am during lockdown relaxation timings. The shop owners and hawkers must see that customers complete their transaction by 9.30 am so that he or she could reach their residence before 10 am.

Since there is heavy movement of goods vehicles during lockdown, the movement of such vehicles would be permitted from 9 pm till 8 am the next day for loading and unloading of commodities and other material and between 10 am and 9 pm no goods vehicles would be allowed.

He asked the managements of various industries, which are permitted to operate during lockdown, to adjust shift timings of their employees to avoid movement during lockdown. The Station House Officers (SHOs) would discuss the matter with the managements’ in their jurisdiction, he added.
