Sangareddy: Sanagreddy police busted an alprazolam-making racket and seized a huge amount of alprazolam, raw material, a unit and three luxury cars, all worth Rs 60 crore.
The police seized 350 grams of alprazolam on December 31 at Gummdidala toll plaza from three drug peddlers, and also seized their manufacturing unit at Bacharam in Abdulapurmet in Rangareddy district.
Girmagani Sudheer Goud, Muthangi in Patancheru, his brother Prabu Goud, wife Srivani and Bisveshwar Singh formed a gang with 17 persons to make alprazolam.
They would manufacture alprazolam at the Bacharam unit, and sell it in Sanagreddy, Siddipet, Medak and Kamareddy districts. The police nabbed Sudheer Goud at Mambapur in Medak on Friday and seized alprazolam from him.
Superintendent of Police Chennuri Rupesh said the accused were selling a kg of alprazolam at Rs 4 lakh. He said they were making 100 kg of alprazolam every month based on the demand from their customers.
The police nabbed eight persons, including three, on December 31. The SP said they would arrest the remaining accused soon. The arrested were sent to judicial remand.
