CS Rangarajan, the head priest of Chilkur Balaji Temple.
Hyderabad: Justice K Sujana of the Telangana High Court on Thursday sought a report from the Police Department in the quash petition filed by K Veera Raghava Reddy, the accused in the case pertaining to the attack on CS Rangarajan, the head priest of Chilkur Balaji Temple.
The allegations involved are that around 20 people barged into the private quarters of Rangarajan and attacked him after he allegedly refused to recruit people for the petitioner’s ‘sainyam’ and support his causes monetarily.
The petitioner, who led the group, claimed himself to be the incarnation of Mukkanti (Lord Shiva), attacked the priest and his followers. The police booked cases under Sections 189(2), 333, 115(2), 352, 351(3), 308(5), 109 r/w. 190 of BNS.
Reddy, in his petition, raised that the petitioner and the complainant were well known to each other and that the FIR was filed with an ulterior motive and as such there was a delay in filing.
A few of the grounds raised in the petition were that the arrest of the petitioner and remand report was unlawful, as he was not produced before a Magistrate within 24 hours and also violative of Section 50A of the CrPC in not informing the family members regarding the arrest of the petitioner.
At the request of Public Prosecutor representing the State, the matter was posted to Friday.
