Bandi Sanjay’s bail plea rejected, sent to 14 days judicial remand
Sanjay, who was booked under Disaster Management Act, violating Covid norms, attacking police and various other sections, was produced before the Karimnagar District Court here.

Karimnagar: Karimnagar district court on Monday rejected the bail petition of BJP State president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar and four others, and sent them to judicial remand for 14 days.
Police, who arrested Sanjay and 15 others on Sunday night for staging Jagarana Deeksha, ignoring police instructions, registered cases under sections 143, 188, 341, 332, 333, R/W 149 IPC, Section 51 (b) of DMA, Section 3 of PDPP Act. Sanjay and four others, including Peddapalli Jitender (corporator), Puppala Raghu, Kachu Ravi and Marri Sathish — were produced before the Junior Civil Judge cum Judicial Magistrate of First Class at Karimnagar on Monday afternoon. The judge sent them to 14-day judicial remand after rejecting their bail petition. They were shifted to Karimnagar district central prison. Sanjay decided to hold Jagarana Deeksha at his camp office in Chaitanyapuri Colony here on Sunday night, demanding that the State government withdraw GO 317 and provide justice to teachers and employees.
Following the strict Covid guidelines issued by the State and Central governments in the wake of the rapid spread of Omicron variant, police issued notice to the BJP leader asking him to withdraw his deeksha.
With the MP continuing with his deeksha, police arrested Sanjay and other BJP workers and shifted them to Manakondur police station. In the early hours of Monday, they were brought back to Karimnagar City Police Training Centre. At around 1 pm, they were taken to the court.
According to the remand report produced in the court, police registered cases against MP and other BJP activists based on complaint lodged by Huzurabad CI V Srinivas.
Cases under various sections were booked for unlawful assembly, disobedience to the order promulgated by the government, wrongfully restraining the public by obstructing the public way, assault and causing simple and grievous hurt to deter public servants from discharging their duties.
The CI, in his complaint, said he and Huzurabad ACP Venkat Reddy, Jammikunta CI Ramchander, CCS ACP and RI Suresh and other police personnel sustained injuries in BJP activists’ attack.
Speaking to reporters at CPTC, Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana said there was no permission to conduct meetings in the wake of the spread of Omicron. So, they issued notices to Sanjay on Sunday afternoon as there was no permission for Jagarana Deeksha.
They arrested the BJP activists when a large number of people gathered at deeksha site, violating police instructions. Despite repeated warnings, the BJP workers interrupted police duties and some of the youths damaged police vehicle besides attacking the personnel discharging duties.
They took 16 agitating persons into custody and registered cases. 25 others were also booked for not wearing masks, he informed.
