Kothagudem: Bhadrachalam Bar Association president Kota Devadanam has urged the concerned authorities to take steps for the appointment of a permanent judge for the Bhadrachalam sub-divisional magistrate court (Mobile Court).
He said the position was being looked after by in-charge judges for the past two years. Devadanam along with the Bar Association members submitted a memorandum to MLA Dr. Tellam Venkat Rao, urging him to address the issue to ensure speedy civil justice for the public in 28 mandals in the agency area.
The post of Assistant Government Pleader, which was vacant for the past year, should be filled. The post of special deputy Collector, Bhadrachalam, which was created to resolve land transfer regulation (LTR) cases, is also vacant. As a result of which the resolution of LTR cases crucial for in the agency area has become difficult. Hence the post should be filled immediately, he said.
The pecuniary jurisdiction of Bhadrachalam mobile court has remained confined Rs 5,000 for the last 100 years as per the 1924 Agency Act. It should be increased to Rs 10 lakh on par with pecuniary jurisdiction of the junior civil judge in the plain areas, Devadanam noted.
He said that the MLA Venkata Rao responded positively to the Bar Association’s request and assured to address the issues by taking them to the notice of the State government and the concerned authorities.
Devadanam noted that if the issues are not resolved at the earliest, the members of the Bar Association would hold a general body meeting to chalk out a future course of action to put pressure on the government.
