Hyderabad: The maximum temperatures across Telangana continued to gradually climb over the last 24-hours. Weather data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad on Tuesday indicated a steady rise in mercury levels, with several districts officially breaching the 40 degree Celsius, a clear indication that the heatwave has started to tighten its grip across Telangana.

In the last 24-hours (till 8.30 am on Tuesday) Nizamabad emerged as the hottest district in the state, recording a maximum of 42.5 degree Celsius, followed closely by Adilabad at  41.8 degree Celsius. The weather outlook for Hyderabad and other parts for Tuesday, according to IMD, Hyderabad, is a gradual rise in maximum temperatures.

A large number of districts, including Bhadrachalam, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, and Nalgonda, all hit a uniform peak of 40 degree Celsius.

In the capital region, Hyderabad recorded a maximum of 38.7 degree Celsius, while suburban areas like Hakimpet and Dundigal saw slightly higher temperatures of 39.6 degree Celsius and 39.4 degree Celsius, respectively.

While the day time temperatures have risen steadily, there are indications that even night time temperatures have started to remain high, as thundershower activity has abated.

Nizamabad and Adilabad saw the warmest nights at 29 degree Celsius and and 28.7 degree, offering little respite to people of Hyderabad.

In the last 24-hours, Telangana remained completely dry, a clear sign of receding trend of thundershowers.
