Karimnagar: BRS activists and farmers on Sunday staged protests across the erstwhile Karimnagar district against the State government’s decision not to implement Rythu Bharosa for the current Kharif season.

Based on BRS working president KT Rama Rao’s call for the statewide protests, party workers along with farmers staged rasta rokos and dharnas in all mandal headquarters of Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jagtial and Rajanna-Sircilla districts. Effigies of the State government as well as Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy were also burnt.

While Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao participated in the protest held at Telangana Chowk in the town, Peddapalli BRS president and former MLA Korukanti Chander took part in the protest in Anthergoan. Former legislature D Manohar Reddy participated in the protest held in Peddapalli town.

The farmers found fault with the state government for deceiving them by denying the promises made to them during the time of elections. Before elections, Congress party had promised to waive all crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh. However, it changed its voice after coming to power and put conditions to waive loans leaving the farming community in trouble. Subsequently, loans of a number of farmers were pending, they said.

Similarly, the government had now changed its voice on Rythu Bharosa by announcing that it would given only from next Rabi season.
