Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has stepped up its campaign for the Jubilee Hills assembly by-election, with its leaders going door to door across the region, urging voters to back party candidate Maganti Sunita Gopinath. They also strongly criticised the ruling Congress government for failing to deliver on its promises.
BRS Rajya Sabha member and Parliamentary party deputy leader Vaddiraju Ravichandra accused the Congress administration of causing hardships to people across all sections of society, with backward classes (BCs) bearing the brunt of the discontent. Speaking at a meeting in Banjara Hills MLA Colony on Sunday, he said farmers, students, youth, women, auto drivers, employees and businessmen were all up in arms against the government due to unfulfilled election promises. “Congress leaders made countless assurances but have not implemented even one,” Ravichandra remarked.
Key responsibility assigned
Ahead of the polls, BRS working president KT Rama Rao had assigned Ravichandra the responsibility of the Yousufguda division. During the meeting at his camp office, the MP joined hands with MLC Pochampally Srinivas Reddy in reaching out to the electorate and party functionaries. Ravichandra, accompanied by other BRS leaders, including Ashish Kumar Yadav and Mangalarapu Lakshman, handed out voter lists, polling station-wise, to party functionaries and delegated specific responsibilities to them. Turning his focus to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Ravichandra condemned what he called “anti-people policies”. He alleged that Congress had deceived BC communities by promising to increase reservations, only to betray them later. “In the Jubilee Hills election, BC votes will not go to Congress. People are turning to the BRS leadership, which transformed Hyderabad into a world-class city and turned Telangana into a golden State,” he asserted.
Ravichandra emphasised that the public views BRS as their true guide and K Chandrashekhar Rao as a father figure. Confident of victory, the MP declared that Maganti Sunitha’s win under the party’s car symbol was certain in Jubilee Hills. “And in the next elections, K Chandrashekhar Rao will return as Chief Minister, that’s a fact,” he added.
Door- to- door outreach
Meanwhile, in a parallel door-to-door outreach in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar under the Rehmat Nagar division of Jubilee Hills, former Minister V Srinivas Goud mobilised residents to vote for the BRS candidate. Goud highlighted how Congress could make it to power on a wave of pre-election promises that remain unmet even after two years, leaving every community disgruntled. To drive the point home, campaigners distributed “Congress Dues Cards” at households, appealing to people to confront Congress workers on the streets about delivery timelines for what was promised to them.
“Vote for the car symbol and ensure Maganti Sunitha Gopinath’s victory,” Goud appealed, calling out the ruling party’s campaigners for their own unkept word.
