Karimnagar: Terming the state government a debt government, senior BRS leader and local MLA Gangula Kamalakar said the government has to clear Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh debts for each person in the state. BRS activists led by the MLA launched the ‘Congress Baaki Card’ campaign in the town on Friday and distributed cards to the public by visiting every house.
Launching the programme at Karkanagadda Gandhi Chowk, Kamalakar said that the Congress party came to power by misleading the people with its ‘Bharosa Card’ and failed to implement a single promise even after 23 months in office.
To create awareness about Congress debts, the BRS launched the ‘Congress Baaki Card’ campaign so that people would question MLAs, Ministers, and the Chief Minister about their debts when the leaders visit their localities.
Before elections, Congress promised Rs 2,500 to women, so the government has to pay Rs 55,000 to each lady, Rs 44,000 to each elderly person and physically challenged, and Rs 76,000 to each farmer under Rythu Bharosa. Ultimately, the government has to pay Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh to each person.
On the other hand, the government has to clear Rs 40,000 crore debts of BC communities since Congress promised to allocate Rs 20,000 crore in the budget every year. Besides budgetary allocations, the party also promised to provide 47 percent of contract work to BCs. However, none of these were materialized, he said, and demanded the government take steps to implement its poll promises.
BRS district president GV Ramakrishna Rao, senior party leader Naradasu Laxman Rao, and others participated in the campaign.
