Hyderabad: BRS leaders came down heavily on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy following yet another incident of food poisoning in the Maganoor Zilla Parishad High School in Narayanpet.
They held the Congress government squarely responsible for endangering students’ lives and demanded urgent action, accountability, and also a thorough overhaul of the monitoring system.
Former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao was outraged at the government’s repeated failures in ensuring food safety in schools. “In less than ten days, another case of food poisoning in the same school? Despite multiple warnings and parental concerns, no measures are being taken. The Chief Minister’s assurance to punish those responsible have become empty words. How many more children must suffer before the government acts?” he questioned.
BRS MLC K Kavitha termed the situation as heartbreaking. “It is agonising to see children, who carry dreams of a golden future, crying in pain after eating worm-infested rice. This second incident in the same school within a week underscores the Congress government’s negligence. A student dies every ten days, yet the government remains unmoved,” she stated.
Former Minister S Niranjan Reddy attributed these recurring incidents to a lack of supervision and leadership. He said even an year after the Congress came to power, key departments like Education and Home remained without appointed Ministers. “Such negligence is leading to repeated tragedies in Gurukuls and schools. The government must take full responsibility and ensure immediate quality treatment for the affected students,” he asserted.
BRS spokesperson Dasoju Sravan pointed to systemic failures under Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Education portfolio. He said the latest incident reflected incompetence and irresponsibility of the Chief Minister, even after 48 students died in residential schools under his watch.
