The estimated cost of the project is Rs 500 crore and the CETP will be set up under Public Private Partnership mode
Hyderabad: Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) is working towards setting up a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) based Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at the Hyderabad Pharma City (HPC), according top priority to pollution control measures. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 500 crore and the CETP will be set up under Public Private Partnership mode.
Under phase I, TSIIC is undertaking the development, operation and maintenance of 7.5 MLD ZLD-based CETP on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer basis. “The objective behind setting up the CETP is to ensure that there is no pollution in the HPC. Even before the units commence operations, emphasis is on setting up the required infrastructure to keep pollution under check,” a senior official from TSIIC told Telangana Today.
Stating that this was being done as per the directions of Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, he said the Minister specifically instructed the Industries Department to initiate measures to control pollution at all the new industrial parks and zones. Applications are being invited from companies or agencies for setting up the ZLD-based CETP under PPP mode.
On its part, TSIIC will part with land for setting up the plant, and the agencies or companies will be entrusted with the task of operation and maintenance of the plant, the official explained. “Efforts are being made to set up the plant in about 12 to 18 months. It will be an advanced treatment plant and would be the first plant to be set up in HPC,” the official said.
Under phase I, TSIIC intends to develop a bulk drug park in an area spread over 1,000 acres at HPC located in Kandukur, Yacharam and Kadthal mandals of Rangareddy district. Accordingly, the required infrastructure for controlling pollution is being set up. The 7.5 MLD-capacity ZLD based CETP will be developed on modular basis. Under module I, a 3 MLD CETO will be developed in about four acres to receive, handle and treat effluents in a day. Subsequently, the plant capacity and operations will be enhanced as per the demand and industry requirements.
“Of the Rs 500 crore estimated cost, Rs 200 crore will be spent under module I. The concession period for the project will be 20 years, including 18 months for construction of the plant,” the official added.
