Computer operator held, 10 officials booked for transferring lands illegally in Mancherial

Mancherial: In a major land scandal exposed by the police, a computer operator was arrested for allegedly transferring lands onto names of individuals by collecting between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 in Nennal mandal. He was produced before pressmen in Bellampalli on Wednesday. Ten revenue officials, who were also involved in the offence, were also booked.
Briefing the media, Ramagundam Commissioner of Police V Satynarayana said the accused was Pudari Naresh Goud, a native of Nennal mandal centre. Naresh was taken into custody following a complaint received from Jadi Rajalingam, Tahsildar of Nennal.
The revenue officials who were booked were P Hari Krishna, G Veeranna, D Rajeshwar, Tahsildars of Nennal, Ithe Tirupati, Rathnam Venkateshwamy, Kondagorla Rajanna, Sinde Karunakar, Shaik Mahaboob, Emurla Mallesham and MD Iqbal, all village revenue officers of various villages in Nennal mandal.
During the course of interrogations, Naresh confessed to registering lands onto names of 88 farmers by receiving money since 2012. He admitted to transfer 207 acres of land to the farmers belonging to eight villages of Nennal, without getting a nod from the Assignment Review Committee (ARC). He revealed that he had indulged in the offence by taking help from three tahsildars and seven VROs worked in Nennal in the past.
The computer operator disclosed that he could transfer the lands by using a dongle given to him by revenue authorities.
Investigating officials are probing into the role of the revenue officials who were charged of helping the operator.
