Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Commissioner of Police, Dr M Ramesh, along with officials of various departments, on Monday inspected the proposed construction of a skywalk along the Raidurgam-T-Hub stretch in Cyberabad.
The objective of the project is to improve pedestrian safety, walkability and ease traffic congestion in one of the busiest IT corridors.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr M Ramesh said the project is envisaged from Raidurgam Metro Station, passing via the IKEA flyover and the IOCL junction, up to T-Hub.
The inspection focused on identifying critical pedestrian risk zones and traffic congestion points in the high-density IT corridor, while exploring sustainable solutions to ensure safe pedestrian movement through the development of skywalks and tunnels. The initiative aims to create a safe, continuous and walkable network for daily commuters accessing metro stations, offices and commercial hubs.
“The corridor experiences substantial pedestrian movement and recurring traffic bottlenecks, and the proposed skywalk would allow pedestrians to cross the roadway safely while easing vehicular flow. The project is expected to reduce traffic congestion along the stretch by nearly 30 percent,” said the Cyberabad CP Dr M Ramesh.
The proposal is being developed with the support of the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) in collaboration with multiple private stakeholders. Phase I envisions the construction of a 500-metre-long skywalk, while plans are underway for a 400-metre underpass connecting T-Hub with Mindspace C-Gate to improve last-mile connectivity.
The proposals will be submitted to the State government through the Industrial Area Local Authority (IALA) and the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC), with future extensions planned to adjoining office clusters. A convergence meeting with industry representatives and heads of civic and government departments is expected shortly to finalise the plans, which are proposed to be taken up through a Public-Private Partnership mode under the aegis of SCSC.
Progress will be reviewed periodically through coordination meetings involving GHMC, TGIIC and IALA, the Cyberabad CP added.
