Mahbubnagar: Soon after receiving a notice from Speaker G Prasad Kumar in connection with the Supreme Court case on defection, Jogulamba Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy denied that he had joined the Congress and claimed he was still ‘technically’ with the BRS.
Stating that he would consult legal experts before responding, Krishna Mohan Reddy on Saturday said he continued to be a member of the BRS.
Admitting that he had met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy earlier, he clarified that the meeting was regarding constituency issues and to seek funds and projects.
“It is false that I joined the Congress. I am very much continuing in the BRS,” he asserted in a video circulating on social media.
“People elected me and the constituency’s development can be ensured only if we are in power,” he said. On the notice, he added that his office had collected it but he was yet to read it.
“I will abide by the law and follow whatever orders are issued by the Speaker and the Supreme Court,” he said, adding that he would take legal opinion and act accordingly.
Following the Supreme Court’s directions to decide on the disqualification petitions of 10 BRS MLAs within 90 days, Speaker Prasad Kumar served notices to five MLAs on Friday. Speculation is rife that notices may be issued to the remaining five MLAs after inquiries with those who have already been served.
The 10 BRS MLAs, who defected to the Congress, are facing disqualification proceedings after the BRS filed a petition in the Supreme Court.
