Hyderabad: The joy of owning a double-bedroom house at the Kollur housing complex was short-lived for Bhagyamma and her family after revenue officials allegedly locked their allotted house, prompting them to seek justice from the district administration.
Bhagyamma and her husband, Ramulu, both daily wage labourers from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal Assembly constituency, alleged that they were being prevented from occupying the house unless they paid a bribe of Rs. 3 lakh.
The family approached the Ranga Reddy Collectorate during the Prajavani grievance redressal programme on Monday and submitted a written complaint.
In her complaint, Bhagyamma alleged that an individual identified as Sandeep Kumar locked their house while the family was away. She further alleged that he demanded Rs. 3 lakh even though the family had already been issued a house allotment patta for House No. Kollur-I, 14A-510.
“We have four children and have been living in the double-bedroom house. We do not own any land or other property. How can we pay Rs. 3 lakh?” Bhagyamma said, appealing to the authorities to intervene and restore possession of the house.
Before receiving the house allotment, the family had been living in rented accommodation at Sabithanagar Colony near Kokapet. Following the complaint, the Ranga Reddy Collectorate directed the Gandipet Tahsildar to conduct an inquiry into the allegations and submit a report.
