Khammam: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka directed TGNPDCL officials to set up power substations in line with the growing electricity needs.
He, along with TGNPDCL CMD Karnati Varun Reddy and district Collector Anudeep Dirishetty, held a review meeting with officials of the erstwhile Khammam and Warangal districts here on Friday.
Steps should be taken to meet the electricity requirements of Young India Integrated Residential Schools, industrial parks in the erstwhile Khammam and Warangal districts, and the Government Medical College in Khammam. Measures should also be taken to prevent accidents caused by damaged electricity poles and distribution lines with low ground clearance, he said.
Vikramarka asked officials to submit proposals for setting up substations as requested by the Khammam district Collector. Two 400 KV substations would be sanctioned in view of the growing industrial needs in Khammam district.
The Deputy Chief Minister said at least one electric ambulance should be available in each Assembly constituency and emphasised spreading awareness about the electricity department’s emergency service number: 1912. He added that he would personally call 1912 to check.
Proposals should also be prepared for establishing solar power panels at major irrigation canals and lands in the district, floating solar projects at medium projects, and solar projects on endowment lands.
Steps would be taken for full-scale solar power supply in some villages of Mahabubnagar and Khammam districts under a pilot project. Efforts have also been made to set up solar-powered pump sets for agriculture for interested farmers, Vikramarka noted.
NPDCL CMD Varun Reddy said the company was already preparing a plan to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the upcoming summer season.
