Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy said minor errors or spelling discrepancies in the Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC) would be overlooked if the voter’s identity was clearly established.
The EPICs issued from other Assembly constituencies would also be accepted if the voter’s name appears in the electoral roll of the polling station concerned. Overseas electors registered under Section 20A of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, must produce their original Indian passport only for identification, he said.
Voters would receive Voter Information Slips with polling details at least five days before the election day. However, these slips cannot be used as ID proof, the CEO said in a statement here on Thursday.
He appealed to all electors of the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency to carry valid photo identification when they cast their vote on November 11.
As directed by the Election Commission of India, every voter must produce their EPIC at the polling station for identification before casting their ballot. Voters who do not have an EPIC can establish their identity by producing any one of the following twelve approved photo identity documents:
- Aadhaar Card
- MGNREGA Job Card
- Passbook with photograph issued by Bank or Post Office
- Health Insurance Smart Card (including Ayushman Bharat Card)
- Driving Licence
- PAN Card
- Smart Card issued by Registrar General of India under NPR
- Indian Passport
- Pension Document with photograph
- Service Identity Card with photograph issued by Central/State Government, PSU or Public Limited Company
- Official Identity Card issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs
- Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card issued by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment
The CEO urged voters to check their names in the electoral roll, carry one valid photo ID and exercise their franchise responsibly on November 11.
