Nizamabad: Fingerprints found on a towel used to kill 55-year-old D Gangadhar allegedly by his wife D Savitri at Fakeerabad in Nizamabad district became crucial for investigators to nail her in the premeditated murder case.
With the help of four accomplices G Sailu, G Palanna, B Gangamani and R Babu, Savitri forced Gangadhar to drink toddy and whisky. Since Gangadhar was in an inebriated state, Savitri and others caught hold of him while Sailu strangled him to death near Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS) building on November 20, 2021.
They later dumped the body at nearby railway track in Fakeerabad where a train passed over it, breaking it into two pieces. They again placed the body parts on the tracks to ensure that no one recognizes the body and left the spot.
The government railway police found the multiple body parts on the tracks the next day and registered a case of suspicious death. Even forensic experts could not establish the cause of death with the available body parts.
The murder, however, came to light when Gangadhar’s relative started enquiring about him with Savitri.
Since Savitri was not giving proper information about Gangadhar, his relatives sought the help of community elders who grilled Savitri. Savitri then informed that she killed Gangadhar as he was harassing her everyday.
On coming to know about this, the police summoned and questioned Savitri, who admitted to her crime. The Nizamabad police collected case details from the railway police and re-investigated it. Based on her confession, the police arrested Sailu, Palanna and Gangamani on Saturday while Babu is absconding.
“The fingerprints found on the towel will only help us in getting punishment to those involved in the gruesome murder,” a police official said.
