First batch of Telangana Haj pilgrims to depart on May 4
The first batch of Haj pilgrims from Telangana will depart for Saudi Arabia on May 4, 2026, from RGI Airport, Shamshabad. Nearly 9,607 pilgrims will travel in batches over 20 days, with additional pilgrims expected after quota adjustments. T
Hyderabad: The first batch of Haj pilgrims from Telangana will leave for Saudi Arabia from RGI Airport Shamshabad, for Haj 2026 on May 4.
A total of 9,607 persons in different batches will embark for the spiritual journey from the embarkation point at Haj House, Nampally for nearly 20 days from May 4. Apart from the pilgrims from Telangana, a few hundred pilgrims from neighbouring States will also report at the embarkation point at Haj House.
Syed Ghulam Afzal Biyabani, Chairman Telangana State Haj Committee, said that all arrangements have been made for the stay of the pilgrims at the Haj House. Also personnel from State and Central agencies including the customs, external affairs, bank officials will be present at the Haj House to facilitate the pilgrims.
“We have held a series of meetings with the people concerned regarding the management of the Haj Camp 2026. Coordination committees have been formed to ensure proper management,” said Afzal Biyabani.
The Haj Committee officials expect a few more persons might get an opportunity to perform the Haj pilgrimage after the adjustment of the Haj quota.
“A few hundred more people might get an opportunity and the number of flights could increase,” said the Chairman. The pilgrims will arrive at the Haj House two days before their departure date.
The pilgrims after completing the formalities will head to the RGI Airport in special buses from the Haj House to board the flights for Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad police are making arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Haj Camp.
K Shilpavalli, DCP (Khairatabad) said that sufficient police force will be deployed to ensure security of the Haj pilgrims and an obstacle free process. Personnel from the local police stations and the armed reserve will be deployed for security purposes while the bomb detection teams from headquarters will conduct anti-sabotage checks. The traffic police will also be deployed to man the traffic outside the Haj House.
“Our personnel will help Haj pilgrims safely board the buses and reach the airport,” said the official.
