HYDERABAD: Stressing that the Rajiv Swagruha scheme was badly planned and left halfway, the Forum for Good Governance (FGG) has demanded Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to provide necessary civic amenities at the already allotted houses and complete the pending works.
The idea of developing an integrated township was confined to paper. Even for the allotted houses, there were no proper roads, drinking water, drainage and more importantly, there were complaints of poor construction. As a result, middle-class families were suffering heavily, FGG president M Padmanabha Reddy said on Tuesday.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, the FGG president said the Rajiv Swagruha scheme was launched in 2007 with a target of constructing 3,716 flats and 556 individual houses, totalling to 4,272 structures. The scheme was closed in 2013 and as against the set target, 2,956 flats were constructed and allotted to applicants. Similarly, of the 556 individual houses, 195 houses were taken up and only 50 per cent were completed, he said.
So far, Rs 1,809.56 crore, including a loan of Rs 919.31 crore, were spent. Till now, Rs 763.55 crore were obtained from allottees and Rs 1,046 crore was loss to the government, Padmanabha Reddy said.
