Four Bangladeshi women rescued from prostitution racket in Hyderabad; three held
Hyderabad police rescued four Bangladeshi women from a prostitution racket and arrested three organisers. Two accused, including a Bangladeshi woman who allegedly lured victims into India through illegal routes, are absconding. The victims were rescued following a police raid in Mehdipatnam
Hyderabad: Four Bangladeshi women who were forced into prostitution by a Hyderabad-based gang were rescued by the Hyderabad police.
Three persons who were organising the prostitution were nabbed, while two others, including a Bangladeshi woman who conned the victims into crossing over into India illegally and forcing them into prostitution, are absconding.
According to ACP Chandrayangutta, Sudhakar, a victim who is from Bangladesh, had approached the police seeking help and safety from a gang involved in international human trafficking. The woman told the police that a woman, Rupa, who is from Dhaka in Bangladesh, conned her into visiting India for a tour.
“Rupa brought the victim through illegal routes into India. After crossing over into the country, they reached Kolkata and then headed to Hyderabad and reached Bandlaguda. Rupa handed over the victim to Hajera Begum of Ismailnagar, who is a prostitution organiser,” said ACP Sudhakar.
Hajera Begum took the victim to the house of another suspect, Shahnaaz Fatima (32), who is a dancer at bars and kept her there with the help of a broker, Mohammed Sameer (23) of Kanchanbagh.
“Hajera, Shahnaaz and Sameer were forcing the woman into prostitution after threatening her with arrest. After the victim approached the police, a raid was conducted at Mehdipatnam and three more Bangladeshi women were rescued,” said the ACP.
Efforts are on to apprehend Rupa and Sarwar, who had reportedly brought several Bangladeshi women into India for prostitution illegally.
