Hyderabad: Most toys available in the market nowadays are inspired by western stories and characters. In a quest to make Indian heritage more fun and exciting for children, a young entrepreneur Meghna Bhutoria has launched Indic Bricks — a building blocks toy that familiarises the children with Indian heritage and history.
The company’s first product, a Ganesha set was recently launched, just in time for Diwali. The team is currently working on making many more sets for the kids including Bal Krishna, Hanuman, Ramayana storytelling set and various Indian monuments. Meghana reasons that while assembling a Ganesha idol, a child is likely to be curious about his four arms and might want to learn more about his story.
“What is special about Indic Bricks is that it not only helps engage children with their roots, but it also develops their creativity, spatial skills, focus and persistence,” says Meghna, who is an alumnus of INSEAD, France.
With the toy market booming in the country, Indic Bricks — positioned at the convergence of do-it-yourself and know-your-roots — has a huge potential in India as well as with non-resident Indians abroad. The toys from Indic Bricks can be checked online at www.makersloft.in/ganesha.
