Hyderabad: A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Satish Chander Sharma and Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavilli directed the Hyderabad Collector to file a status report on action taken for removing encroachment made on government land. The panel was dealing with suo-moto public interest litigation taken up through an article in a newspaper relating to raising illegal construction and encroachment on government lands more particularly government hospitals being the prime target for land grabbers. The Government Pleader informed the court that they have taken necessary legal action against such encroachers for raising illegal construction and encroaching the government land. The panel directed the Collector to file a detailed status report as the Collector is responsible for removing all such encroachment.
Cadre allotment
A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court comprising Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice S. Nanda on Thursday adjourned for further hearing a batch of petitions on allotment of IAS and IPS cadre officers challenging the ruling of the Central Administrative Tribunal, Hyderabad. It may be recalled that various civil servants approached the CAT seeking transfer to Telangana from Andhra Pradesh. The panel was dealing with petitions filed by the Department of Personal Training (DoPT). Indrakaran Reddy, Additional Solicitor General representing the DoPT argued that allocation of officers to AP and TS were done basing upon the Guidelines framed by a 5-member committee. He pointed out that the Central Government was the authority and the DoPT was the cadre controlling authority, which took an appropriate decision to allot officers to both the states basing on the AP Reorganisation Act. He questioned the CAT’s order in allotting IAS officer Somesh Kumar to Telangana. The panel will continue to hear the matter on Friday.
