Hyderabad: Justice B Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court on Friday came down heavily on the Revenue Department for their ‘insensitive and negligent attitude’ towards court cases. The judge voiced concern over how lakes were being encroached and disappearing from maps. The judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by the Raghvendra Weakers Welfare Association. Deepak Misra, counsel for the petitioner, pointed out that said the petitioner’s land was illegally being modified and encroached by the adjacent landowners including Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd, Cybercity Builders and Developers Pvt Ltd. He complained that the revenue authorities were turning a deaf ear and they were not acting on the representations for conducting survey to demarcate land allocated to poor labourers. At the request of the petitioner, association land was allocated by the government at Kukatpally for the purpose of construction of dwelling houses to the labourers. Issuing notice to the authorities, the judge made it clear that any illegal encroachment shall be cleared subject to the outcome of the case. The judge adjourned the case to February 4 for further hearing.
State policy on cinema tickets
A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court comprising Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice A Venkateshwara Reddy on Friday issued notice to authorities on the State policy on cinema tickets. The panel was dealing with a writ petition filed by the Buy Movie Tickets firm challenging the regulation rules on services provided by online ticket booking platforms. The order restricting the online ticket booking to 50 per cent of total tickets and stoppage of online booking of cinema tickets two hours before the show time was challenged. The panel directed the government to file a counter within 3 weeks.
3 weeks granted to stay proceedings
Justice K Lakshman of the Telangana High Court on Friday stayed the Enforcement Directorate court proceedings against Tummala Ranga Rao, realtor accused in Emaar Scam case. He turned an approver in the CBI case and was later made an accused. The judge granted 3 weeks stay against the proceedings.
Panel grants interim order
A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court, comprising Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice A Venkateswara Reddy granted an interim order vacating an order of a single judge on termination of a contract between the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation and the owner of a petrol bunk. Malothu Nehru, entered into an MoU with the RTC. Earlier he filed a writ petition challenging the decision of the TSRTC to terminate his contract, saying that the termination proceedings were anti dated. A single judge had suspended proceedings of termination. Aggrieved by the order of the single judge, the present appeal was filed by the TSRTC. The RTC informed the court that the legal metrology wing found petrol bunk in Hakimpet RTC premises had tampered with the dispenser basing upon which the MoU was terminated.
