Hyderabad: TCA general secretary Guruva Reddy Dharam said the statement by Dr G Vivek, Telangana Minister and former president of Hyderabad Cricket Association, that he would spend the entire amount of Rs 64 crores, awarded by a court verdict towards settlement of a long-pending arbitration, for promoting the sport and creating infrastructure in the districts meant that the Minister was indirectly admitting that the money was taken.
“If this is not treated as a confession of wrongdoing, then the very purpose of laws and bylaws governing sports bodies loses meaning,” Guruva Reddy said.
The TCA official also questioned the authority of a Minister to control funds belonging to a cricket body which is publicly accountable and governed by strict bylaws.
“These are development funds from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, meant for young cricketers, not political or politicians’ charity money,” he said.
