Karimnagar: Election authorities have decided to webcast the polling process of Huzurabad by-election scheduled on Saturday. Earlier, webcast process was used only in sensitive polling stations. However, polling authorities have decided to webcast the polling process of all polling stations since Huzurabad by-election grabs the attention of the entire nation.
For the purpose, 350 engineering graduates have been deployed to look after the webcast process and required training was also given to them. The entire process would be recorded with the help of laptops to be arranged inside the polling station. Except voting, the remaining process would be recorded with web cams attached to laptops. All laptops would be connected to a command control room established in Huzurabad, from where officials could watch the polling process of each and every polling station.
BSNL, Airtel and Jio internet services have been used for webcasting. Police officials have also arranged CC cameras outside the polling station to examine the situation outside the station. On the other hand, solar panels are also arranged at every polling station to overcome power problems.
A total of 1,715 polling staff including returning officers, assistant returning offices, micro observers and others were selected to discharge polling duties. While 1,224 officers were deployed to discharge duties in different levels, 491 staffers was kept in reserve. Following the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India, polling authorities selected fully vaccinated polling staff.
Following the instructions issued by district officials, polling staff reached Huzurabad Government Junior College distribution centre at 9 am on Friday and left for polling stations after collecting EVMs and other polling material. A total of 306 polling stations are set up in Veenavanka, Jammikunta, Illandakunta, Huzurabad and Kamalapur mandals and Huzurabad and Jammikunta municipalities covering 2,37,036 voters. Polling will be held from 7 am to 7 pm.
As many as 306 control units, 612 ballot units and 306 VVPATs will be utilised. Meanwhile, 115 control units, 279 ballot units, 209 VVPATs will be kept in reserve. Polling staff will submit EVMS and other polling material at the reception centre arranged in SRR Government Degree and PG College, Karimnagar, wherein arrangements were also made for counting scheduled on November 2.
