Hyderabad: Family donates organs of 24-year-old after road accident in Shamshabad
Kotha Dinakar, 24, from Shamshabad, declared brain dead after a road accident, had his organs donated to needy patients under Telangana’s Jeevandan programme. His kidneys and liver were allocated to patients, marking the 21st brain-dead donation in 2026.

Hyderabad: Family members of a 24-year-old private employee from Shamshabad, Kotha Dinakar, who was declared brain dead by the attending team of doctors, have decided to donate his organs to needy patients, as part of State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative.
On January 20, Kotha Dinakar, a resident of RB Nagar, Shamshabad, KV Rangareddy, was travelling on his bike from Shamshabad to Gachibowli on the service road when he was hit by a DCM van, according to Jeevandan officials.
The youngster sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a local hospital by his family members. After emergency treatment, with his health condition not improving, he was declared brain dead on February 22, 2026.
The deceased youngster’s father, Kotha Krishna, made the decision to donate his son’s organs. The doctors retrieved kidneys (2) and liver (1) and allocated them to needy patients.
Jeevandan Programme of Telangana has reached a significant milestone with 20 brain-dead donations recorded in this year, and Monday’s donation was the 21st donation in 2026.
