Hyderabad: For the past few weeks, more than 25 families residing at Devi Nagar (3rd Cross) in Malkajgiri have been living amid significant drainage water inundation.
The affected households have reported that waterlogging in their neighbourhood has disrupted daily activities and posed health hazards during every rainy season for the past five years.
“We have appealed to the GHMC to address the ongoing drainage inundation crisis caused by recent heavy rains, but there has been no response,” said D S Subramanyam, a severely affected resident of Devi Nagar.
He explained that the significant waterlogging during every rainy season not only disrupts daily activities but also poses serious health hazards. Despite Water Board’s proposal to lay a sewerage pipeline in 2023 to resolve the issue, there has been no tangible progress on the ground.
Subramanyam added that the lack of proper drainage solutions has led to homes being flooded every year, damaging property and exposing residents to unsafe, unsanitary conditions.
“We have made repeated complaints to the authorities, yet the situation remains unchanged. This makes our lives unsafe and difficult, especially for children and senior citizens,” the residents here complained.
